Chaiyaphum is a quiet, hilly province on the western edge of Isan, best known for its wild Siam tulip fields at Pa Hin Ngam and Sai Thong national parks, which flower in the rainy season from about June to August. Other draws are the sandstone pillars of Mo Hin Khao and the silk weaving of Ban Khwao. The relaxed main town honours its founder, Phraya Lae.
